Girl With A Pearl Earring

What I found most intriguing about Tracy Chevalier's novel Girl with a Pearl Earring was how as a simple reader I was able to conjure up, in my mind’s eye, each piece of art she depicted through her descriptions of hue, position, light, and facial expression which were carefully manipulated during one painters process of creating a masterpiece.  Using the detail of Vermeer's artistry, Chevalier illustrates colors and images as if her novel were a painted picture in itself.  Girl with a Pearl Earring is a quick and mysteriously engaging read, one I would recommend to any reader with a desire to delve into a story both innovative and unique.
